What is Motus Explore?

A seated VR treadmill for chair based exercise, proven to activate muscle groups involved in walking, in preparation for weight bearing exercise. Motus Explore leverages virtual reality and immersive content, distracting from pain resulting from knee replacement surgery. Explore enhances engagement, increases physical mobility  and prevents deconditioning for patients in hospital, residents in care settings and at people recuperating at home.

Who can use Explore?

You’ve had knee replacement surgery and it’s sore. You’ve been told to exercise, but exercises are repetitive, boring and … uncomfortable! Motus Explore motivates safe, low-impact distracting exercise useful for pre and post operation exercise for knee replacement surgery. Explore is also great for athletes and trainers seeking motivation for repetitive, boring and uncomfortable, exercise associated with rehabilitation from other lower limb surgeries or trauma.

What makes Explore different?

Motus Explore co-designed with physio and occupational therapists, uses chair based virtual reality immersive social walks to unwittingly motivate lower limb and core body exercise, making rehabilitation addictive, fun, and more effective. By regularly, as prescribed, activating muscles and tendons essential for walking, users are able to regain strength, balance, and mobility.

Immersive experiences motivate participants to do unwitting exercise, whilst clinicians gain access to insightful data on physiological and activity metrics - tailoring treatment plans to individual’s needs. Future recovery from knee replacement surgery may even become  “a walk in the park”!
